Latvian Environmental Investment Fund hosts Fortesie 3rd Plenary Meeting

On September 26-27, 2024 the Fortesie Plenary Meeting took place in Riga, Latvia. The meeting was organised by Latvian Environmental Investment Fund (LEIF). Around 40 participants gathered in the meeting representig more than 10 countries.

The main goal of the Plenary meeting was to discuss and share the status of the project and to define the way forward. Also the meeting gave oppportunity to share the experience of different countries within the project activities. The second day of the Plenary Meeting was dedicated to the workshops where participants from countries that have implemented pilot projects discussed the ways activities are possible to implement in the future even out of the frame of the project. Within the pilot projects the project partners tests different energy efficiency solutions

“In this project we address the policy of European Union for climate change. FORTESIE is multidisciplinary project that supports the acceleration of the Renovation Wave in Europe. Within the project various pilot projects in many countries are realised that includes wide use of innovative digital tools that supports different energy efficiency solutions in order to highlight the importance and contribution of renovation process to improvement of overall living standards in Europe,” the Project Coordinator Anastasia Garbi explains the importance of the project.

The overall vision of FORTESIE is to design, demonstrate, validate and replicate innovative renovation packages in the building industry with Smart Performance-Based guarantees and financing, aiming at Efficient, Sustainable and Inclusive Energy (ESIE) use to accelerate the Renovation Wave in Europe.

Objectives of the project:

  • Digitisation and Automation enablers for Measuring, Verification and funding
  • Integrated renovation packages solutions to raise the overall Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) value proposition
  • Real demonstrators in 6 countries targeting several different stakeholders
  • Smart contracts and new business models for original and replicated packages serving, immediate markets take up
  • Boosting renovation wave with performance guarantees

“FORTESIE project gives us excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of air quality in educational buildings in Latvia and learn, how to finance energy efficiency improving projects all over Europe,” highlights the Executive Director of LEIF Evija Liepaskalne.

One of the important directions of LEIF is management of financial instruments that support public and private organizations in CO2 reduction and energy efficiency actions. During the last 10 years LEIF have provided financial support in the amount of more than 345 million euros.
